What is hosting?

Following the previous example:
The domain is the address
Hosting is the “house” where your website lives
Every time someone visits your site, the hosting is responsible for displaying all the content correctly.

Why do you need both domain and hosting?
Because one doesn’t work without the other.
You can have a domain, but without hosting, there’s no content to show. And you can have hosting, but without a domain, no one will be able to find you easily.

What you do is connect both:
The domain points to the hosting
The hosting displays your website when someone visits it

It’s like having the address of a house but no house… or a house with no address.
You need both for everything to work properly.
